Huntsmill Farm Wedding Photographer
I'm Paul Hickey of Once in a Lifetime Photography. If you're looking for a Huntsmill Farm wedding photographer, I offer experienced documentary coverage at this stunning, family-run wedding venue, plus creative night portraits and no additional travel fees. This page is for engaged couples planning a Huntsmill Farm wedding who want natural photographs, a relaxed approach around wedding guests, and images that make the most of the venue from the ceremony to the party.
I photographed my first wedding there in May 2026, for Amandine and Harrison, and it's a venue I'd happily return to. Huntsmill Farm sits in Shalstone, Buckinghamshire, on the border with Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. The venue combines an 18th-century stone barn, an outdoor ceremony structure called The Shed, a central courtyard, and seven self-catering cottages across the grounds, giving you a perfect location for a full celebration in one place, with the countryside as a perfect backdrop.
Because Huntsmill Farm shifts from bright outdoor spaces to darker evening areas, choosing a photographer who can handle both natural moments and low-light portraits matters. My approach there is the same as everywhere else: documentary coverage through the day, from people, details and cake to the bigger moments, then creative night portraits once the light drops. Below, you'll find venue details, how I photograph a Huntsmill Farm wedding day, a real wedding example, package options, common questions, and how to book.
Real Huntsmill Farm Wedding Amandine & Harrison, May 2026
Amandine and Harrison were married at Huntsmill Farm in May 2026. Preparations took place in The Old Dairy, where the dress, flowers, and other suppliers all added their own personal touch and helped shape the style of the morning. Their ceremony was held in The Barn, and portraits followed through the courtyard, the tipi area, and down at The Shed as the light turned golden. The evening space works especially well once the ceremony ends and the party starts, turning the whole place into a relaxed celebration. Planning for rainy weather is essential at Huntsmill Farm, especially when moving between outdoor areas and the courtyard in the evening. It was a full-day booking with documentary coverage and creative night portraits, my standard approach for every wedding. It was a real pleasure to photograph this pair, from the emotional moments to the amazing atmosphere later on. A full gallery also covers the cake, the smaller details that make the special day feel personal, and the story of the whole day as it unfolds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a recommended photographer at Huntsmill Farm?
Not yet. I've photographed one wedding at Huntsmill Farm in May 2026, and I'm not currently listed on the venue's recommended supplier list.
Do you offer a second photographer at Huntsmill Farm?
Yes. A second photographer is included as standard on my full-day Signature Wedding Photography package, which covers Huntsmill Farm weddings.
What happens if it rains? Can you still shoot outdoors at The Shed?
Yes, ceremonies and portraits at The Shed can still go ahead in light rain. I'll also use The Barn's indoor space for portraits if needed. Large-group photos are the main thing that the weather affects. I'll break these into smaller groups and use any gap in the rain for the full-group shot.
Do you travel to Buckinghamshire from Worcestershire?
Yes, with no additional travel fee. Once in a Lifetime Photography covers Worcestershire and the West Midlands as a primary area and travels further for venues like Huntsmill Farm at standard pricing.
How long until we receive our photos?
Galleries are typically delivered within eight weeks of the wedding.
How far in advance should we book?
Popular dates at Huntsmill Farm get booked well in advance. I'd recommend securing your photographer as soon as your venue date is confirmed.
About Huntsmill Farm
Huntsmill Farm is a family-run wedding venue near Buckingham. The main space is a converted 18th-century stone barn with high vaulted ceilings and large windows, giving a good spread of natural light for ceremonies and speeches.
Set in the Buckinghamshire countryside, it’s a stunning venue and perfect backdrop for a wedding celebration, with exclusive use for ceremonies and receptions. Couples wanting an outdoor ceremony have The Shed, a licensed structure built from reclaimed timber and corrugated tin, set apart from the barn. There's also a tipi area used for daytime portraits and gatherings.
The grounds include a courtyard and gardens for drinks receptions and group photos, plus seven cottages: The Old Dairy, Blacksmiths Cottage, The Granary, The Stables, Mill Cottage, Well Cottage, and Carters Cottage, which sleep guests on site. I photograph the pair throughout the day, and it’s always a pleasure to cover a special day there.
Photographing Your Wedding Day at Huntsmill Farm
Getting ready in the cottages
For Amandine and Harrison's wedding, preparations took place in The Old Dairy. It's a good size for bridal prep, with enough natural light through the windows to work without flash for most of the morning.
The ceremony at The Barn
Their ceremony was held inside The Barn. The vaulted ceilings and large windows mean the space stays bright well into the afternoon, which gives plenty of room to work discreetly during the vows without needing additional lighting.
Golden hour in the courtyard and by The Shed
Late afternoon light at Huntsmill Farm is genuinely one of the best things about the venue. The barn is bright, but as the day progresses, a Huntsmill Farm wedding photographer still needs to be confident in rustic, low-light environments and able to photograph the ceremony without intrusive lighting. On a clear evening, the sky opens up beautifully over the grounds, with the countryside creating a perfect backdrop for the pair. I shot portraits just outside the tipi area and down by The Shed, both of which are an amazing fit for couple portraits once the light turns golden.
Reception and evening
Once the sun goes down, this is where my creative night portraits come in: off-camera flash, coloured gels, and smoke effects used against the barn exterior or courtyard, an amazing countryside setting and the perfect backdrop for portraits, depending on the couple and the weather. While the party, cake, food and wider celebration carry on, wedding guests can relax, chat and enjoy a little rest after the big day moments in a courtyard that still feels right at the end of a perfect day. I keep any time away from the best day itself short, photographing the pair in a way that suits the flow of the special day, and many couples prefer shorter portrait sessions spread throughout the day rather than one long block.
Huntsmill Farm Wedding Photography Packages
My Signature Wedding Photography package covers 8+ hours, from before the ceremony until an hour after the first dance, and includes documentary coverage, creative night portraits, and a second photographer. Standard pricing applies at Huntsmill Farm, with no extra travel charge. To help you choose who photographs your special day, always ask to see full wedding galleries, not just highlight images, so that you can judge the overall quality throughout the day. I also carry professional liability and equipment insurance to protect clients and venues. Full package details and pricing are on my wedding photography packages page.
