Award-winning Worcestershire wedding photographer capturing genuine moments, elegant details, and stunning, distinctive evening portraits you won't find anywhere else.

Flashmasters Gold Award Winner · Multiple Weddison Award Winner · Recommended Supplier at Worcestershire's Finest Venues

I'm Paul Hickey, a documentary wedding photographer based in Worcestershire, dedicated to capturing real love stories with authenticity and creative vision. My approach blends unobtrusive documentary coverage with signature creative evening portraits, telling your complete wedding story through genuine moments, elegant details, and artistic nighttime images that become treasured memories.

I naturally blend into your day, never directing, never interrupting, always observing and searching for meaningful moments. A knowing glance, shared laughter, the soft fall of light before the speeches. Quiet anticipation before the ceremony. The atmosphere in the room when the vows are read. As I document your day in a relaxed, unobtrusive style, I am already visualising the creative portraits we will craft as evening falls.

As the light changes, so does the photography.

With off-camera flash, smoke effects, coloured gels, and creative lighting techniques, I craft striking evening portraits unlike anything you will have seen at other weddings. These are not extras. They are central to how I tell your story.

What Makes Once in a Lifetime Photography Different From Other Wedding Photographers

Natural Storytelling Style - Documentary Photography as It Happens

I document your day as it unfolds, candidly and honestly, without interference. From bridal preparations through the ceremony, speeches, first dance, and every unscripted moment in between. A relaxed, documentary style means you will not notice me. Your guests will not either. But nothing gets missed.

Elegant Details

The thoughtful touches that make your wedding uniquely yours, such as florals, table settings, rings, dress, and venue details, are photographed with care and intention. These are the details your family will want to see and the moments that complete the narrative of your day.

Signature Evening Portraits - Something Truly Different

This is where Once in a Lifetime Photography truly stands out. As daylight fades, I use dramatic lighting to create portraits your friends will ask about for years. Smoke, bubbles, champagne, coloured gels, and architectural backdrops are all planned and crafted to fit your venue. Pure documentary coverage by day. Creative wedding photographer magic by night.

Hi, I'm Paul - Documentary Wedding Photographer and People Person

Since 2014, I have photographed weddings across Worcestershire as a documentary wedding photographer with a creative edge. My background in sports, theatre, and live performance taught me to anticipate moments, read atmosphere, and remain unseen until the perfect shot appears.

My experience in performance photography taught me that moments do not wait, and neither do I.

I am a Multiple Weddison Award Winner and a Flashmasters Gold Award recipient, recognised by leading industry bodies for my creative approach to documentary wedding photography. With over 100 weddings photographed, I ensure every couple receives distinctive images that tell their story in a way no other wedding photographer can replicate.

Outside of photography, I have taught Taekwondo for 25 years. Discipline, timing, anticipation. The skills translate more directly than you might expect.

On wedding days that call for it, I work alongside a small, trusted team of assistants, including second shooter Danielle. Every person I work with shares the same approach: relaxed, unobtrusive, and focused entirely on your day. Between us, nothing gets missed, and no moment goes uncovered.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does wedding photography cost in Worcestershire?

Wedding photography in Worcestershire typically costs £1,200–£2,000, with the market average around £1,400.

Full-day documentary wedding photography with Once in a Lifetime Photography starts from £1,295 for 2026 dates. Registry office packages start from £395. Hybrid photo and video collections start from £1,695 — significantly less than booking separate teams.

What is documentary wedding photography?

Documentary wedding photography captures genuine, unposed moments as they naturally occur throughout your day.

Rather than directing or staging shots, a documentary wedding photographer works unobtrusively in the background. The result is an honest, candid record of real emotions — the laughter, the tears, the unscripted reactions that define your wedding day.

What makes Once in a Lifetime Photography different from other wedding photographers?

It is the combination of pure documentary coverage with signature creative evening portraits.

Most wedding photographers focus on one style. Once in a Lifetime Photography delivers natural storytelling and authentic reportage throughout the day, then creates dramatic portraits using off-camera flash, smoke effects, coloured gels, and creative lighting as evening falls. I also cover both photography and video — something no other documentary wedding photographer in the area offers in this style.

When should I book my wedding photographer?

I recommend getting in touch 10–12 months ahead for popular dates.

As a recommended supplier at Hogarths Stone Manor and other Worcestershire venues, the calendar fills quickly between May and September, as well as on popular Saturdays. The earlier you enquire, the better your chances of securing your date.

How many photos will I receive?

Full-day collections typically include 700+ professionally edited images.

Katie and Rob received nearly 1,000 from their wedding day. Everything is delivered via a private online gallery within eight weeks, with unlimited downloads, filtering by person or time of day, and a shareable link for family and guests.

Do you photograph weddings outside Worcestershire?

Yes, I cover weddings across Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Shropshire, the West Midlands, and beyond.

Destination weddings are available on request. Travel within approximately 60 miles of Worcestershire is typically included at no extra cost.

Let's Talk About Your Wedding - I'd Love to Hear Your Story

I take on a limited number of weddings each year, so every couple receives the time, attention, and creative vision their day deserves. If you like what you have seen, the best first step is to check whether your date is available.

I aim to reply to every enquiry within 24 hours.
