Getting Married at Hopton Court Estate
Hopton Court Estate is a Grade II listed Palladian house built in 1776 and has been home to the Woodward family since 1863. The family-run estate offers three tiers of exclusive venue hire — Timeless, Classic and Signature — each holding your ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception across one exclusive-use booking.
Ceremony spaces
Ceremonies take place in the Orangery, a floor-to-ceiling glass room bordered by a wall of jasmine, licensed for ceremonies both inside and directly outside with the Orangery as backdrop. Couples confirm Plan A and Plan B with the venue in advance, so they don't need to decide between indoor and outdoor on the day.
Reception spaces and capacity
Hopton Court Estate offers three hire tiers, each with different guest capacity and access times.
Timeless hire allows up to 70 daytime guests and 150 evening guests, with venue access starting at 9 am on the wedding day.
Classic hire also allows up to 70 daytime guests and 150 evening guests, but venue access starts the day before the wedding.
Signature hire allows up to 90 daytime guests and 150 evening guests, includes the Garden Marquee, luxury event toilets, and a stay in the Hideaway Hut, and starts venue access at 12pm two days before the wedding.
Wedding breakfasts are held in the Coach House, or in the south-facing Courtyard for daytime guest lists under 70, with the Coach House as the wet-weather fallback. Signature hire adds the Garden Marquee, which adjoins the bar and looks out over the lawns to the Orangery, with the Coach House used as the dance floor. In the evening, the Courtyard becomes the social hub, and the Old Barn — set with hay bales and the estate's original Land Rover — offers a separate chill-out space for guests.
Accommodation
Every hire package includes a two-night stay in The Apartment. It sleeps six across three bedrooms, two en-suite and one with a detached bathroom, with two additional z-beds available at £50 per bed. Signature hire adds a two-night stay in the Hideaway Hut, a separate cabin elsewhere on the estate.

The Drawing Room and Apartment Lounge both take strong natural light for bridal preparation. At the same time, the Stables and the Coach House complex’s second getting-ready space, typically used by the groom’s side, has darker, more textured light suited to a different kind of image.
The Orangery’s glass walls mean ceremony light shifts through the day, changing how I position for both indoor and outdoor ceremony options. Once evening arrives, the Old Barn’s corrugated iron and the Courtyard’s café lighting are where creative night portraits come into their own; off-camera flash, coloured gels and smoke effects read clearly against those textures in a way they don’t against a plain marquee wall.
